| 6. Suigo no sato This beautiful area of (the former) Shimomura was restored to give it a 1960's feel. With a park golf field and an agricultural ranch it is an ideal place for neighborly interaction and communication. There is also the Kamo Monument Exhibition Hall and the Toneriko Fureai Hall for playing darts. Suigo no sato is a natural place for rest and recreation featuring both water and greenery. 7. Equestrian Park The only equestrian park in the western area of the prefecture features a "Horse Lover's" Club and an annual horse riding tournament. Members of the public can also safely enjoy horse riding at various events and times throughout the year. TEL:0766-59-2833 |
8. Ceramic Art at Takumi no sato At Takumi no Sato tradition is treated with great respect. In workshops for handmade goods, exhibition pavilions, and others, craftsman's techniques are preserved for future generations. Anyone can visit and enjoy trying to make traditional ceramic goods. | 9. Oshima Picture-book Museum With over 10,000 picture books from Japan and overseas, there are plenty of books to be enjoyed together by parents and children. There's also a class for creating your own picture books, as well as seminars by authors and artists. Operas, choruses, and other various events are often held, all in the spirit of the "Feel, Create, Communicate" slogan of the "Dream Creation Space" of Oshima's Picture-book Museum. 10. Taikoyama Land The greatest city park in the prefecture was created to mark the 100 year anniversary of the formation of Toyama Prefecture. Forests, ponds, and various other natural features were utilized to form an ideal recreational area. It also boasts one of the best leisure pools of its kind in any of the prefectures that border the Japan Sea. Some of the other attractions are a fitness course and the Toyama Prefectural Children's Mirai Institute, where kids can gather, play games, and study. TEL:0766-56-6116 |

| 11. Yakushoji Pond Park The pond was created within the 19.7 hectare park in the middle of the Muromachi Period (1392-1572) for the purpose of irrigation and water collection. In 1986 (the 61st year of Showa in the Japanese Calendar) the lake was included as one of "Toyama's famous water" spots and is still one of the most popular areas for herabuna (Crucian) fishing in the Hokuriku region. |
12. Shoriki Kobayashi Memorial Hall Matsutaro Shouriki was the founder of Tokyo Giants and established professional baseball in Japan. He encouraged the development and popularization of color television to foster the sport, becoming known as "the father of professional baseball". He was inducted into the hall of fame in 1959. Shouriki's successor Yosoji Kobayashi rebuilt the Nihon Terebi (Japan Television) Company, putting it back on it's feet. They also took over the Yomiuri Shinbun (Daily Yomiuri) newspaper, which Kobayashi later made the most widely circulated paper in the world at the time. Combining the characteristics of fine art and sculpture, his artistic renderings are described as "sculptures so grand that they look like paintings", and have received much praise in the art world.
